For our "1st anniversary-delayed just a little" date, we went out to a restaurant on a lake...and it didn't even feel like we were in Oklahoma! Hurray! We love our lives in Oklahoma, but we miss the landscape of some of our other homes...that's for sure!

So, just for celebration & an example of those landscapes we miss, here's a picture from our engagement pics, taken 2 years ago!

1st YEAR: check!

It's been a year of 1sts...1st year of marriage, 1st year of teaching, 1st year of Oklahoma living, 1st year NOT enrolled in school, and 1st year in our house.
This year was the 1st time I've been in a historic blizzard, earthquakes, tornadoes, softball-sized hailstorms, flooding, and not to mention, the most constant: the Oklahoma wind.
This was the 1st year Josh truly pulled for Duke alongside the born & raised Duke fan, so it was his 1st ACC AND NCAA Championships (pulling for the RIGHT team!).
During this year, Josh & I left the country together for the 1st time, traveling to Costa Rica and staying at the base of a volcano, again for the 1st time.
I had my 1st event requiring a Krispy Kreme doughnut cake.
We had our 1st married move and our 1st psycho UNpacking.
We bought our 1st new car, and we traded in the jeep for the 1st time. We bought a truck for the 1st time. We let our cars STAY parked beside each other for the 1st time.
We shared our 1st Halloween together...in one place (as Johnny Appleseed & his apple); we almost shared a full Easter Sunday together. We were stuck away from our NC families in our 1st white, Oklahoma Christmas. We made our 1st stockings.
He wore his 1st bowtie. I bought my 1st Cowboy boots.
We went to prom as one another's date...for the 1st time.
I directed the music for Seussical. He became a Lieutenant. We made the high school yearbook without being in high school.

And now we've celebrated our 1st anniversary.

Here's to the 1sts. What a fantastic year.
I can't help it, but I'm already looking forward to the 2nds.
